Garcinia Cambogia: Safe for Weight Loss?

What Is It?

Garcinia Cambogia is a weight-loss supplement. It is from a fruit.  Many people believe that is works by blocking your body’s ability to produce fat and that it help to suppress your appetite.  It is marketed and sold as a diet product and may be sold on its own in a bottle or mixed with other ingredients.  The main purpose of the product is to aid weight-loss.  It can also help to keep blood sugar and cholesterol levels at normal levels.  Should you take it?  That’s up to you.  There are lots of products out there in the marketplace which are sold to help you to diet.  I know that my parents don’t believe in taking supplements and just trust what you get from your doctor but I tend to like to try supplements and am a long-term user of many supplements.  I haven’t tried Garcinia Cambogia yet but am planning to when I go on my next weight-loss phase.

How Does It Work?

The active ingredient in the supplement is hydroxycitric acid (HCA) which has been seen to boost fat-burning and suppress appetite in studies.  It also raises serotonin which helps humans to feel less hungry.  A few studies have been carried out about the effectiveness of Garcinia Cambogia. Those who took the supplement managed to shed a few more pounds than those who didn’t.  It could be difficult to attribute this weight loss to the pills though because other factors such as working out could affect the results.  But, in my experience, that little extra does help and results can be slow.  There aren’t really silver bullets when it comes to exercising and losing weight.

Garcinia Cambogia Can Help Reduce High Cholesterol

Garcinia Cambogia can make it easier for your body to use glucose which is the sugar that cells in your body need for to use for energy.  People who have type 2 diabetes may benefit from this because the product may lower insulin levels in the body.  However, diabetics may be advise not to take insulin controlling medication at the same time as the product as glucose levels could then become too low.  There is some research that has found that Garcinia Cambogia can help to reduce high cholesterol level.  It’s worth knowing that there is good and bad cholesterol.   The product can lower triglycerides and bad cholesterol (LDL) whilst raising good cholesterol (HDL).  If you are diabetic, suffer from high cholesterol or have any other ailments then always seek your doctor’s advice before taking any supplements.  If you have high LDL cholesterol and are already taking medication for this then, again, seek advice from your doctor before taking this, or any other, supplement.

Possible Side Effects of Using Garcinia Cambogia

When you take Garcinia Cambogia, you might experience dizziness, a dry mouth, headaches and/or an upset stomach and diarrhea.  If you experience any of these symptoms and then stop taking the supplement.

You wouldn’t want to use the product when you’re pregnant or nursing or if you are suffering from liver or kidney problems.  Please be aware that taking supplements when you have any illness can can adverse affects and/or stop other medication that you are taking to stop working, work less optimally, or interfere with other medication.  Your body is finely tuned so what you put in it matters.

Should I Buy Garcinia Cambogia?

This is up to you.  I have personally taken pre-workout supplements, protein shakes, and all manner of other dietary supplements.  Many people say that a good, balanced, healthy diet is all you need but how many of us have the time or make the time to eat healthily each and every day.  Someone we do have goals to reach and want that extra help.  Research bout Garcinia Cambogia is mixed but I’m still going to try it because I like to take supplements.  The supplement does cost money and you have to make the decision about how much you are willing to invest in your health.  I spend quite a lot on healthy eating and working out because it is important to me.
